THE Business with Ukrainian refugees

For six months, Joana Lehner and Ekaterina Bodyagina researched how entrepreneurs enrich themselves from the suffering of Ukrainian refugees in Germany and shamelessly exploit them.

For this purpose, they infiltrated a network of job brokers and show for the first time how they systematically place Ukrainian refugees in undeclared work in Germany and profit from it. They also tell the story of Anastasiia, a 20-year-old Ukrainian woman who was exploited by a German entrepreneur.
